DirectBuy questionable pricing and store closings - Whirlpool Refrigerator
My mother in-law joined DirectBuy two years ago in Peoria, AZ. During the initial sales pitch they assured everyone that they would consistently beat any store price on any matching item. It's difficult to validate that claim since they frequently don't carry the exact same items carried in stores (mattresses for example). We did get a good price on name brand blinds, a mattress, and a microwave, but when we tried to price match a refrigerator on sale at Home Depot, they refused to match it. The sales person then referred us to a retailer who would price match the Home Depot price. Not long after that we learned that the Peoria DirectBuy location is now closed. The closest remaining location in the Phoenix area is over 22 miles away from the location that closed. My mother is letting her membership lapse due to these issues.
